About Greater Durham Jiu-Jitsu

Greater Durham Jiu-Jitsu The Greater Durham Jiu-Jitsu Facility is a tri-track club, offering three distinct martial arts styles; Juko Ryu Tora Tatsumaki Jiu-Jitsu, Shorin Ryu Karate, and Yoshinkan Aikido. Students can choose to receive instruction in any style.

 

 

Jiu-Jitsu: is a practical self-defense system that emphasizes the manipulation of joints, utilizes the body’s natural movements and relies on simple scientific principles of force and leverage to thwart an attack. It is said to be one of the most complete self-defense systems in the world and involves kicks & punches (sparring), throws, joint locks, pressure points, and ground defenses as well as defenses against various weapons.

Karate: is a martial art of Japanese origin that deals with attacks through evasive body movements and/or blocking, and counter attacks using kicks, punches and strikes.

Aikido: is a non-competitive and non-agressive Japanese Martial Art using timing, positioning, angles, and momentum redirecting the attack with joint locks, throws, and pins to overcome and control the attacker.
